Construction work for the Max-Planck-Zentrum für Physik und Medizin starts
The construction work for the new Max-Planck-Zentrum für Physik und Medizin (MPZPM) will start: The construction site at the Schwabachanlage in Erlangen will be set up from Tuesday, June 2, 2020. On June 8, the clearing of the site and the preparatory work will beginn, the demolition of the Novalis Center will start on June 29. The construction measures will not affect the operation of the University Hospital.
The Max-Planck-Zentrum für Physik und Medizin is a cooperation between the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) and the University Hospital Erlangen. This research center will house a department of the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, three chairs of the FAU and five further research groups of all three cooperation partners, who will work together on an interdisciplinary basis. Research will focus on physical processes that play a role in the development of diseases and may be the key to new therapies.
