Welcome to the Core Microscopy Facility
"Seeing is believing." Since its invention in the 17th century, light microscopy has been an invaluable tool for investigating biological phenomena with high spatial and temporal resolution. As modern biological research tackles increasingly complex and critical questions, advanced microscopy techniques are essential for revealing intricate cellular and molecular processes. However, accessing and mastering these sophisticated technologies requires dedicated expertise and infrastructure.
This is where the Core Microscopy Facility at MPZPM comes in. Our facility provides cutting-edge imaging technologies and expert technical support, enabling researchers to leverage advanced quantitative light microscopy for groundbreaking discoveries in biology and medicine.
Our service
Our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art scanning confocal fluorescence microscopes, available to all MPZPM members. We offer thorough training on operating these advanced systems and ensure their optimal performance through regular checks. Leveraging our expertise in optics and biophysics, we provide personalized consultations to guide researchers in selecting the most effective imaging techniques for their projects. We also collaborate on innovative scientific projects which uncover biological phenomena previously undetectable with conventional microscopy.
In response to user demand, we are planning to expand our facility by acquiring additional advanced microscopy systems, ensuring that our resources meet the evolving needs of the MPZPM community.
Our services include:
- Access to high-performance scanning confocal fluorescence microscopy (Zeiss LSM 980 with Airyscan 2 and Zeiss LSM 900)
- Comprehensive user training
- Regular courses on imaging and image analysis, from basic to advanced levels
- Workshops and demonstrations by leading companies
- Expert consultations on utilizing advanced microscopy for research projects (e.g., optical diffraction tomography and Brillouin microscopy)
